(9/11) Mrs. Hutcheson's first grade class learned about 9/11 this week and wrote about what a hero is.

(9/11) This week Mrs. Heatherly's class has been comparing groups of objects using their comparing math mat and counting bears, and they've discussed the math words greater than, less than and equal to. Students were able to create their own groups and decide which symbol to use.

(9/11) Mrs. Peterson's class had Foodie Fun Friday. The students made buses for snacks to eat!

(9/11) Funtime Skateland of Pontotoc challenged the community to vote for a FAVORITE teacher. Miss Stephanie Ball was the winner for Pontotoc City!
She was awarded a check to go towards her classroom needs! Thank you to each person who voted for Miss Stephanie and thank you to Funland Skateland!

(9/11) Mrs. Wallace's class practiced greater than and less than by using “alligator mouths” to eat the bigger number.

(9/13): The PCSD librarians attended the LAMP workshop this week. Kellie McIntyre, author of The Passport Project, spoke of her memoir. Elizabeth Simmons informed librarians of the MAGNOLIA database updates from MDE.

(9/5) Mrs. Tobi, our school counselor, spoke to Mrs.Vance’s second grade class about good manners. She read the book, Berenstain Bears Forget Their Manners. They loved telling Mrs. Tobi about all their good manners that they have learned in school!

(9/5) PES students did a lesson from the book, The Very Hungry Worry Monsters, in the PES library. The lesson focused on identifying emotions and working through them. The students were able to feed their worries to their own worry monster!

(9/5) Second grade students look forward to reading about pumpkins, spiders, and bats as fall approaches!
